In Hope
As a part of our ongoing "Resilience in Resistance" theme, this week we welcome Pastor Coliér McNair to share his perspective on resilience in the Black church. Coliér has served as a local pastor for twenty years, first at Zion City Church and then at Blackhawk Church, and before that he worked for the City of Madison Department of Civil Rights. You can find him speaking on the topic of Black spirituality and resilience in this recent PBS interview.

Meier & Stormy's Wedding
MCC member Meier and partner, Stormy, are planning a wedding at the MCC this Sunday, Feb. 8, at 1pm. This joyful event comes amid Stormy's recent devastating diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer. They are happy to have you join through the online link here (please note, the wedding itself is not open invitation). Your help would also be welcome - sign up here to contribute food toward a light reception or to participate in set up or clean up.

MCC will host an exhibit of seasonal photographs by John Mason. These images are from John’s book titled, “Madison Trees in Season.” This collection of black and white landscape photos will be on view in the Shalom Room starting Sunday, February 8, 2026. A copy of John’s book will be available for browsing.

MCC Pancake Party
MCC Pancake Party on Sunday, Feb 15, 11:30am-12:30pm
Let's celebrate together with pancakes and more as we prepare for the season of Lent. All invited! Let Andrea know if you'd like to help flip pancakes or with clean-up.
Palestininian Reading Group

Are you interested in learning more about Palestine through reading? A small group of us plan to gather regularly to read and discuss Palestinian focused books. Our next gathering will be Weds, Feb 18th, 1:00, at MCC. We are starting with Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa. This work of historical fiction is the first mainstream novel in English to explore life in post-1948 Palestine. If you are interested in reading with us, please let Vicki Warren or LisaAnn Trembath know!

Support for Immigrant Siblings in the Twin Cities
The ICE invasion of the Twin Cities has been brutal, cruel, and has regularly violated constitutional rights. On the other hand, the community response has been massive, courageous, and compassionate. If you're looking for a way to help, one organization doing incredible work is the Minnesota Interfaith Coalition on Immigration. They do advocacy and direct material support. Here is their website.
- Larry Henning, on behalf of the Immigrant Support Team.
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice also put out this link with ways to contribute to families/organizations in MN. https://www.standwithminnesota.com/
Building Unity for Nonviolent Action (BU4NVA)
Some from the MCC have joined hundreds others to begin Building Unity for Nonviolent Action (BU4NVA). One of the steps is to create congregational rapid response teams should ICE or other threats become local. If you’re eager for organizing and want to be part of the MCC contact small group, contact Vicki Warren.
Boundary Waters
We’ve got a permit to go in at Snowbank Lake, June 15-21. High schoolers can let Nick know if you’re interested (including bringing a friend). Interested adults should also be in touch!
